This one is without Kangroo but you'll need "Weaverbird" plug-in.

By adjusting sub-d level, you can get more smooth mesh.

Adjusting "Graph Mapper" would help.

And it might be not what you want , get this as well. You'll need "Meshedit" plug-in.
