Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I got some problem using [volume] component. I'm not good at other programming language, and maybe there'll be another options to solve this with [script] component. By the way, it's a critical error for me, thus I want to inform and ask all of you.

I made open-polysurface, and draw spheres at the vertices. I cut the spheres with [solid difference] component, to have solid spheres split.

My goal is to get the volume centroid of each split spheres. Although each part of sphere is closed brep, but I cannot get the volume centroid sometimes in both GH and Rhino.

The [volume] component says that "1. Brep volume mass properties could not be solved.".

I attached my screenshots and the definition.

Thanks for your reply!

Hi,

merge the faces of the Brep, mesh and then find the volume centroid.

There might be a number of reasons why this is failing. My guess is potential singularities due to the solid diff.

Ta,

Hi Marios, thanks for your reply. But in this case, [merge faces] cannot solve the problem.

Hi.

My rough guess is that it's one of sphere seam related problem but not sure exactly why.

Hi Hyungsoo, thanks for your reply.

Yes it was the problem of surface seam. To say in detail, it's because of the end points of the seam.

In my opinion, when the cutter touches the end points of seam, the result might have errors.

Firstly, I tried double [solid difference]; I cut the sphere with split sphere again. But it's too complicate and not proper for every situation.

Following your definition, I changed the base plane of spheres. Thanks again.

Best.
