Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

The visualisation below was made with Grasshopper The dimension of the spheres, the number of spokes and the length of the spokes, represent the age, time of travel and the types of transport used (not in their respective order) It is a visualization trying to map more than four types of data together, that includes the number of students surveyed.

Assuming that I have 4 of these data sets in CSV format, what are the steps involved in achieving this visualisation? I have an almost similar assignment that involves location coordinates and thought some explanation on the image below may give me a head start.

Hi Richard,

what form does your data have exactly? Can you post (perhaps a partial) CSV file that shows this data?

I attached a file which can be used as a cluster to generate spiky spheres.

And an example of how to use it inside another file.

Alright thanks, I will look into it now.

Ok, so a single line in that file looks like:

10,Musical Allegory,63.5,48,Amsterdam,52.36,4.8853

The entries are:

  • Painting index
  • English Name
  • Width?
  • Height?
  • Current location
  • Longitude?
  • Latitude?

So what numbers from this data-set map to sphere location, radius, spike count and spike length?
