Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Is it easily possible to use the Image Sampler to trace pathes and get proper (open) curves? I mean, usually when a hand-drawn path(1) is traced in Inkscape or Illustrator you are not getting a path, but a stroke and a fill(2). While what you really want is like the "spine" of the fill(3).

Not easy at all. Grasshopper has line, circle and sphere fitting algorithms, but nothing for freeform curves.

Usually in tracing packages a thinning algorithm is applied, but there is no corollary in GH I think.
