Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello, I'm totally new to grasshopper. I grabbed that this application is very useful to create 3d shapes, but I'm looking for suggestions as at the moment what I need is to generate 2d geometries. In fact I'm looking for a tool that I can use to make routines to create patterns in a parametric way or establishing specific rules for generating the patterns. Am I on the right software?

By the way is there any developer in Italy, in the Marche region?

Hi Albi,

Grasshopper is an algorithm designer, as such it can be used to generate whatever data you wish. Be they numbers, text, geometry or even images or sounds (though you may want to install a few plugins if you want to create those). Since 2D geometry is a subset of 3D geometry, there typically isn't a problem there.

The bigger question is what sort of algorithms you are looking to develop. Grasshopper may not come with the basic building blocks you need, which means you'll need to do a lot of work from scratch.

By the way is there any developer in Italy, in the Marche region?

I develop Grasshopper on my own, though there are plenty of plugin developers and knowledgeable programmers in Italy. The closest I've been to Marche is Celano*, but I'm based in Tirol, Austria.
