URGENT- Final Year Project- Inquiries

Hello,

I am a civil engineering student at the American University of Beirut, and I'm working on a final year project with my colleagues that interests us in asking about Millipede's limitations. So we want to know if millipede can do structural analysis and "steel reinforcement design"? Or if you can guide us to another software related to Grasshopper that can do this? Any papers or reports that can also be of any help to achieve our goal?

Hello Hala,

I am not sure if any of grasshopper plugins can do "steel reinforcement design", they are limited to structural analysis only, from that point you have to do the reinforcement design separately in other structural software like SAP or Etabs or equivalent.

It should be noted as well that if you are planning to do a seismic analysis using response spectrum or time history methods, I do not recommend grasshopper plugins since they are limit to simple static analysis.

All depends on the goal of your project.

I often use Karamba for simple structural analysis, for example form finding analysis base on static energy of deformation let's say under gravity loads only.
