Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello everyone,

I'm currently making a university project using grasshopper, got a lot of issues, problems and questions constantly, so I thought that it would be better to just open a WIP thread where I could ask all my questions rather than create new posts all the time...

So,

My task:  create a concept of an educational complex on a given situation.

Current idea:  make an optimized model of a master plan, which would include the zones, pedestrian paths, roads, maybe something else...

What i've done:  I've calculated the positions of the zones using the distances between them, I've created some paths, connecting these zones.

Question: Right now 'm trying to calculate the roads, I would like them to walk around the zones and also form a shortest path system. For the second task I have no problems, it works just fine, but I've got problems with the first one.

To make the roads walk around the zones I've created some springs from the zones centers to the points of the roads(at certain distance), the problem is that kangaroo shows error when I plug in those springs.

Will be very grateful if you take a look at my scene.

Thanks!

forgot to remove the unnecessary objects from the scene..

Hi again,

I finally made it working, seemed that you cannot use a cull list component in front of springs force...

(or can you?)

Anyway, this is what i got, if someone is interested)

Very interesting work! I'd love to take a look at it!

I'm working on a similar project which is a bit up side down compared to yours. Rather than specifying areas to go around I try to optimize an area to be shaped towards certain points of interests and at the same time taking in different aspects in the like how hard the choosen path between the POI and the are is to travel or how long it is.

I'm much looking forward to work with you at Smart Geometry, I recognized your name after I read this thread and noticed we're in the same cluster.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks Oliver,
your project sounds interesting too) and of cource, see you at SG!

Really interesting definition Artyom,

I'm looking to obtain the same result in a path optimization but I cannot find a definitive solution to the problem, how do you obtain the final result?

( I tried to use a dispatch instead of the cull list but it's still not working)

Can you share the definition?

Thanks for help
