what does this mean?
for example 'vector between two points' has a boolean input parameter to 'unitize output'.

That the length of the vector is "1". This means that the vector only indicates direction and not magnitude.

i'm not sure why it is "1" but then does not have a magnitude.

Indeed, it has a magnitude of 1, it is just not used to indicate a magnitude.

Very simply X*1 = X ... X/1 = X ... having a direction of 1 won't disturb many mathematical operations. This means that if you have another vector with a specific length, scalar, or a matrix that the result will only respond to a vector's direction as opposed to responding to both its orientation and length. Does that make more sense?
