algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All,

I was looking for a smarter and fast responsive ways to panel a surface with Hexagons,Triangles and  Diamond patterns... which can use surface domains and divide as uniform geometries . Below is image i used to panel Uniform squares , i m looking for  a similar way.

Try the LunchBox plugin. It has a number of surface tiling patterns that are quite simple to use.

Damon ... I m Looking for a uniform tiling solution .

That will depend on your surface, not LunchBox. I can only judge based on the image and the limited information you posted, and I think that LunchBox will give you what you want. Have you tried it?

I use Lunch box. I have no problem using it ... What i m looking is a perfect Hexagonal geometric panels on my surfaces(planar or undulating).

Lunch box is flexible... what i m trying to say is hexagons adapt to surface(stretched out) which is good but not what i m looking for. i m lookinbg for the perfect hexagons like those in Hexa grid.

Hello Shridhar

the method you present, linking srf uv domain with polygon count etc, seems to be the closest to get uniform polygons on surfaces. but still not completely uniform. i guess a further edge equalization is needed (kangaroo) for the perfect hexagons.

cheers

hi, Alex, I tried exactly the same definition like u did above but I get a very strange result as below... Do u know why? do u have any way to make it right? Thanks very much.

this looks like a trimmed surface. if that the case rebuild it to have an untrimmed surface reference.

best

alex

ng5 Alex , That's close .. Thank u but i m aware of this .... is there a way that i can generate a hexgrid as same as surface domain ??? I m ok if it will be a planar surface ???

yes, i was just testing the approach on doubly curved surface.

cant think of a way at the moment.
