Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I love this feature in some text/code editors. I would love to see it in GH too.

This way, all my params are off to the left and all the chaos off to the right and I can see the relationships without a zooming and panning.

Hi Jonah,

I know, it would be nice. Unfortunately I designed the Canvas without this in mind and shoehorning this feature into Grasshopper now will be a lot of work. It'll probably have to happen one day, but not particularly soon.

Looks like a remote control panel to me...

But it wouldn't be restricted to just the area where you group your sliders. I think it would be a great addition to the canvas and look forward to it being implemented, unlike David :)

@David, when/if it happens would you consider Canvas Tabs (also like spreadsheet programs) where Components on the separate tabs can pass information through out the one file. I suppose similar to Clusters except with the ability to see the data flow working.

Wouldn't 'layer' be a more apt analogy than 'tab'? That way you could focus on a single layer of components, or focus on two at the same time, or everything except layer 12...

Yes! That would be brilliant. Just thinking ahead you could add the option to preview geometry on hidden layers or not.

Yes, in this particular case it would probably be much more useful to have a functioning Remote Panel. Unfortunately my time has been so fragmented as of late that I can't get around to big coding jobs. Clusters, the remote panel etc. are all big jobs that badly need some love, but I dare not start typing on them when I have to travel somewhere in 2 weeks time again.

After the Design Modelling Symposium in Berlin and Shape 2 Fabrication event in London my schedule is all free though and I'll be damned if I'm going to accept another invitation in the next 6 months.

I replied to this particular image, and thought the RCP (I hardly dare to use its full name;) was what jonah was hoping for.
We'll be patient :)
