algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I’m trying to make a Karamba model of a roof based on a conic surface like the one in the picture.

The structure consists of a pair of curve trusses conformed with pipe profiles (as the surface is a cone and the cuts planes, the curve is a elipse) that load the IPE profile purlins.

In order to get a smaller the script for the Karamba analysis, I baked the nots and the curves and I worked over that.

However, my trouble starts with those purlins’ modeling. I’m not able to modeling them as separate pieces of the trusses. Is there any way to get that? Thats, in my opinion, a key aspect about the structure performance, because if that joint transmits lateral loads to the trusses, it would be a critical action in the weak plane of the truss.

Anyway, I’m also not able to make the whole model work as a single piece, to the contrary, each truss works as a single piece. If, for example, I change the conditions of support of one of the trusses, only that truss is affected. I get an error message in the Analyze THI component related with some rigid components.

Thank you very much in advance,

Borja

Hi Borja,

one needs to flatten the input of the 'Assemble'-component otherwise one may end up with multiple, partial models that do not calculate.

Elements are connected only at their endpoints: The secondary beams of the roof where not connected to the trusses. This can be remedies using the 'Line-Line-Intersection'-component (see attached file).

Best,

Clemens
