Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

David,

Under solution you can disable automatic compute of Grasshopper or Rhino events, but is there a way to make this default or have it saved in a GHX file? I had it off in a definition and made some changes, the hit Recompute (without checking Grasshopper events). I had done some things my computer can't handle and it crashes. Now when I open up that file it automatically starts to solve the definition and I can no longer open it. Even if I turn off Grasshopper events and then open the file. Am I missing something? Or is this definition toast?

If you've saved as ghx, then you can go in and alter the XML directly and change these settings without running Grasshopper.

This however will not help you since Grasshopper will forcefully compute a new solution whenever you open a file, regardless of those two settings.

You can send me the file though with instructions about which objects to remove, and I can disable solving on my local build.
David,

Thanks for the offer, but I had a saved version that wasn't too far back and I just went ahead and rebuilt and avoided the same mistake. Just checking so if I happened to do it again and don't have an earlier version of my work I could recover it. No worries...

Ok, in either case I just added a general (program wide) on/off switch for the solver, so with the next version you'll be able to disable the entire solution-engine and load/modify and save files while it's off.
