algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hey ,
I'm more or less new to GH . However, I really need to create a truss beam( because it's more precise then just create in rhino, and I'm almost out of time). Unfortunately the definition of the space frame didn't help me to create what I need ( the final structure it would be a frame from trus frames or in french portique avec des poutres en treillis). Sorry but I study in french and idk some structure notion in english :(
Would anyone happen to know the solution of m problem?
The problem in this one is: the thickness of tubes, I don't know how to change the internal tube to have the thickness like in the mage and , idk how to join all this into a single structure(portique)
A biggest thank you to the one who answers, and know that you just saved a life ^^
In the end it should be something like this

If the thing that I need help with is not very cear pls ask, because I really, really need help :(
OK, since it's a matter of life/death ... get this "tech preview" V1 (and wait for the trad V2 update: more options, more chaos, Lists of surfaces, more bugs, slower, uglier == progress).
more ASAP, best Peter
Well .. the right thing to do is to work with Lists of surfaces (or pairs of curves).
This is a task for the V3 update (yes I know that I promised Lists ... but other things emerged and I had a very limited time).
In the mean time, get the V2
PS: pipe is VERY slow : Activate it ONLY after you are OK with the topology (see options).
PS: spot the extend option that allows space for some real life welding.
Get this far more capable C# thing: it works with Surface Lists (open or closed), has random "capabilities", a sin (so to speak) distortion option ... and the usual other chaotic options (chaos is just a flipped order, he he).
This is designed for creating MERO type of trusses (and talking to CATIA): works in tandem with another C# script (not included) that calculates a myriad of things in order to "match" topology with the limitations of a given "ball type" MERO system (clash matters, drilling axis lists, roof related secondary systems blah blah).
It's interesting to observe the GH response time as regards doing pipes with lines VS polylines (as is the case in the V2 script attached above). Appears to be 100000 times faster (I can understand the reason ... but still). Anyway using polylines in a MERO system ... it's the art of pointless, he he
best, Peter
