Troubles with Array along a curve, an oval actually.

Hi Everybody,

I'm quite new to GH and now I have met the first obstacle I couldn't overcome with a search on this forum.

I have designed a workflow to realize an eternity ring, which works nicely, then I have decided to add the option to use it also for oval stones.

To achieve this I had to change the type of array, for the prongs holding the stone, from Polar to Curve and here began my troubles.

I used PointOnCurve to design the prong so I could be able to change the position of the prongs; on a circle worked well, but here…

I made a workaround, highlighed in the file, to get at least the 2 basic positions but I'd really like to be able to move them freely.

Another slight matter I stumbled upon is SolidUnion, which seems not to work with pipes, as I could read on other posts in the forum, even though the baked pipes BooleanUnion nicely in Rhinoceros… any suggestions?

Thanks in advance to anybody who could help.

Michele

Hi.

Is this what you want?

Excelent, nearly perfect!

I haven't understand what your instructions do yet , but I'll study them ASAP.

There is only an unnatural twist when you set PointOnCurve at 1/8 or 0.12-0.13, but I'm afraid this is due to the difference in size between the two top ovals and the bottom one.

Don't you happen to have any tip about pipes Solid Union too?

Thank you very much!
