Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi there

im new to grasshopper and im doing some step by step tutorials to get to know GH.

in this tutorial objective is to set an attractor on the circle grid lines that by moving it the scale of circles should change. in the stage of choosing a circle geometry i have this problem that without baking the grid line i cant choose any of the circles. i think the problem is with the setting of the grasshopper which i dont know how to change it.

if any body could help me with this i would be very appreciated.

Post your GH code please.  You can do practically anything in GH without requiring a bake step.

thanks joseph

Your code works fine, just missing a way to move the attractor point?  Use the 'MD Slider':

Of course, the limits I chose for the attractor using 'BBox' are arbitrary.  The attractor point could be outside of that area and still work.

I cant set a curve as a geometry in rhino interface

I'm sorry, I don't seem to understand your problem?  Is it selecting one of the scaled circles?  My 'Tree/List Viewer' debug tool included:

After making the rectangular grid we should choose one of the circle and set it as a geometry to make an attraction point, am i right?
I cant select any of the circles

As written above, the attractor point is independent of the grid.  But any of the grid points will do.  Here is a re-wiring with the 'Tree/List Viewer' to select one of the original circles as the attractor (attractor_point_Aug1c.gh):

and with some previews disabled (attractor_point_Aug1d.gh):

Are you saying you can't select GH geometry with your mouse?  Nothing new about that...  You can connect the 'Item' output of my 'vList' component to your 'Geo' param if you want?

can you show me the grasshopper code to do as you said?

Did you try moving the 'path idx' and 'list idx' sliders in the code I posted?  I don't know what else to tell you.  Sounds like you might be missing some GH fundamentals.

Hello guys,

Mehrad, I mean no offense but it seems like you have jumped into some more advanced stuff without first understanding some basic grasshopper principles (how this program works...).

I suggest that you spend some time on basic GH tutorials before going into attractors and stuff. Especially David's videos can help you understand many things, much faster than any reply here.

Please go through these and we'll be here to help you with any questions!

Cheers, Nikos
