Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

before I came here, I literally almost tried everything. Never in my life I felt that betrayed and frustrated with technology. I am trying to make an array on curve, it always works, except for this time, its goin totally off grid. What I want to achieve is similar to what you see over the orange curve, but when I choose the green curve, the result is out of logic. what I tried and failed is the following:

1- divide curve into points and connect them into polylines

2- extract first and end point, create a line and project it

3- convert curve into polyline

and other things which I can not recall, they all produced the same result

all the files are attached, please if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

rhino file is in the link : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/slwttvpgcya5oxm/AAB-6uPUb-dAD-2Pa9DCX9hS...

I've tried to simplify stuff by going back to the root profile definition, root principle curve and root surface as the starting point. I think this is doing what you need without large chains and conversions of things. Hope this is what you need.

Just a little more explanation of where it was going wrong... The orientation of the original axis seemed to be getting mixed up, so when performing multiple translations it may have been rebuilding the frames associated to the green curve which threw off its location reference.

As a bit of advice, its worth just working with frames and planes of the objects directly and use the orient planes object instead to translate the original geometry to a new position. This way all you need to worry about is the tree structures and paths.

Julian thank you so much for your reply, this is very useful! still I am not getting near my objective, I will post today on the main discussion board why I was intending to do that array. thanks again

I'm happy to offer more help if you know where you want to head towards....I could guess that the profiles probably weren't the last part of the process., and maybe need to extrude them?

yes exactly! I just posted a new topic on the forum what exactly I need to achieve.
