algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello,
I 'm qiuite new at grasshopper, so bear with me!
I've been trying to make a geometry move like a tripod. So far I managed to do the first part using shear and a slider and managed to move the geometries up and down but I don't know how to make the 3 components move closer to each other when it reaches the initial geometry and extend upwards. (see grasshopper +rhino files)
I don't know if I am even explaining this right.
Any help will be much appreciated,

What are your variables and what are your fixed parameters?
Obviously you want to vary the height of the tripod. The strategy to get this to work depends on your answer to the following questions:
Do you want the legs to have fixed lengths? Are they all equal in length or do they have individual lengths?
Do you want to keep or define the angle of the legs relative to each other?
Are the points, where the legs meet the floor fixed or can they be moved around? If they can be moved, what is the logic behind this movement?
Generally it is not a good idea to try and modify a model as simple as your tripod. Best to your logic working and then build the tripod entirely in GH.

I have another question. How do I multiply this mechanism (lets say create a grid)and attach it below a mesh surface for that it alters the geometry of the surface?

If you would like to have more control options, change the number of the surface divisions in X and/or Y direction.
Also left double click on "Gene List", and edit the "Gene count" value according to that yellow panel ' "Gene list" required value ', below "Gene List".

That screenshot you posted in your last reply, in what application was it made?

not exactly but really thanks for the help!!! I am attaching the grasshopper file. Actually My aim is to move the surface according to the mechanisms movement. So that when a point moves the whole mesh moves uniformly if that explains it. The image was produced with Photoshop unfortunately since I was not able to produce it with rhino.
