Trace 1:20 gradient incline on mesh

Hello wondering if anybody can help or give suggested approaches,

Would it be possible to trace a path across a mesh terrain that follows a specified gradient for example a 1:20 incline, so the point could trace a route across the mesh that maintains the desired incline whilst continuously ascending or descending?

I have been playing with kangaroo with the drainage definitions available on the forum, which work really well. Unfortunately my scripting ability is very limited so cant seem to get my head around this problem.

Any ideas?
