algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi All,;
I currentlly create an rectangle surface, and I use the two method to created
one is to created an rectangle first and then use patch command to patch the rectangle and the result is in the left side of the picture as below, as you can see, the surface is trimed surface.
the two is use the rectangle surface command(the green arrow line pointed to) to created ,and it is an untrimed surface.
what the different between the two method to created the rectangle in exactually??

Patch is usually used for weird surfaces and closing irregular gaps in geometry.
Not sure what the question is,
If its a question of why its because they are used for drastically different purposes.
If its a question of what, some things require untrimmed/trimmed.
If its a question of how, I don't know enough to answer that one.. but probably has a lot to do with how Breps are coded in Rhino.
Also, this is the grasshopper forum. The rhino forums are over at https://discourse.mcneel.com/
