algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi there,
I need help!
I´m pretty new to grasshopper and I can´t seem to figure out sth that is probably
quite easy to do.
I built a simple geometry in rhino that consits of many single surfaces that have different orientations. now I wanna tag them with numbers or letter (no triangolation or no single surface that´s divided like in the tutorial that u can find online) so I can just unroll the geometry in rhino to lasercut it.
can someone help me?
can´t seem to make it work.
all the best, Andreas

hi,
thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it.
I tried it your way but unfortunately it only worked for 2 surfaces.
I don´t know where the problem is. I´m gonna upload the sample I mentioned.
Sorry I should have explained that the Srf Frames component was just to get lost of example frames on my surface. What you need to do is to evaluate each of you surfaces at a reference point and get the frame to place your label. Also a good move is to convert the Series out put into Integers so you do away with the decimal point in the label.
Note the re-parameterization of the surface so that you can give the location of UV in terms of 0 to 1
oh man, thanks sooo much. that´s very kind of you. didn´t expect to get an answer at all and now that... thanks for your time!
oh... but I just realised that it doesn´t work for me... if I unroll the whole object manually in rhino it doesn´t unroll the numbers on the surfaces.. :.(
You can store your label info as a point name and bake the point.
Points should unroll with surfaces.
Then convert the point name into a 2D label.
i forgot to mention that i got it. unfortunately the numbers are twisted on the projected srf...meaning a "10" is a "0I" but with little patience that works for me.
thanks again for your help. highly appreciated!
Andreas
You might just have to flip the direction of the surfaces to get the numbers to do the same.
Chris
Thanks a lot for share!!
