Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to think out this problem and am wondering if I will be able to do this in Grasshopper, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to do manually, but I was hoping I could use Grasshopper to generate multiple iterations.

I have a set of quotes that I want to place onto a panel with the intention of lasercutting it. The quotes will be placed randomly across the panel, all upright, and have varying font sizes. What I'm unsure of is whether Grasshopper can manipulate a line of text and how I can ensure the quotes don't overlap.

Any point of direction is appreciated, Thanks

Joe

I would work out the size of each item in terms of Rectangular Size (include any margins) and then "nest" the rectangles on your surface. Then you just have to locate each item at the centroid of your panels

You could try RhinoNest. It isn't Grasshopper, but it would probably work and be fast:

Or Antonio Turiello has created a nesting GH component. Never tried it, but you could:
