Tangent to Surface at Point, with some help from Galapagos

Dear everyone.

I'm trying to get Galapagos to align the endbit of my curved/twisted surface so that it matches the location of a point AND is coplanar with another surface. How can I compare both Distance and Directional Deviation(?) between two planes and get Galapagos to find the best match?

The two planes don't need to have the axes oriented the same way, I just want to match their origin points and make them "coplanar".

(In this video you can see how the surface moves)

Thanks!

Minimize the sum of both the distance between origins and the angle between the z-axis vectors to get as close to a target of zero as possible.

I'm tired but I think you can do that, right?

but befeore, change md slider to normal slider, galapagos won't work with md...

Ah, clever! That works just fine! Thanks taz and Mateusz.

Ok, next question:

What if I wanted the two planes to be JUST co-planar, never mind the location?

Adjusting the Z-vector only finds the right direction, not the same plane, right?

Thanks!

can you upload ghx file ?
Hi Mateusz, I can email it to you if you would like to have a look. Thanks.
instead of minimizing the distance between origin points you could minimize the distance between a point and a plane with [Plane CP]
Great solution! Thanks again taz!
