Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

I am trying to sweep some triangles along curves I've created.  For some reason, the sweep is stopping before the end of the curve.

I've uploaded the files, but for clarity, I have created two surfaces.

-  One: extra large, where I play with curves being modified by an attractor.

-  Two: smaller, which I use to clip the extra large curves

Thank you for the advice!

Two issues:

  1. Your "station" curves ("Cutting Surface") are initially positioned evenly, without regard to the start points of the projected curves ("rails").
  2. The 'Project Curves' group truncates the rail curves by ignoring the parts that extend beyond the target surface.  You might want 'Project' to plane there instead of project to brep?

Misc. musings... including an ability (useless ?) to set a negative Y-coordinate, to align it with the projected rail curves.  Perhaps better to move those curves, not the pieces you are cutting?

I hadn't noticed all the other versions "hidden" in that file - now removed.  Minor clean-up:

Further simplification, using your 'Proper Srf' as the basis for extrude to get the two layers being cut.  I removed the negative Y-coordinate and added a white group to extend and move the 'Attractor Curve' to align with the 'Proper Srf'.  In the end, though, the 'Project' to plane was still necessary to make sure the "cutting tool" extends beyond the edges of the layers.
