Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I’m quite new in using Grasshopper but I used the component sweep 2 rail in several different definitions with no problems,,, it worked until now as it does in rhino, but now I’m facing a problem with this and after fighting with it for days and cannot find the solution,,, it is driving me mad.

The thing is that the sweep surface is not correct, but when I make the same thing in rhino using the same curves the surface comes perfect,,,, as you can see in the rhino file.

I have attached the rhino file along with the gh.

All of this is a portion of a big definition, so I baked some curves to create this new one, and the problem remains exactly the same.

Pehaps is a very easy thing but as I said I have just a little experience in gh,,,,

Any help will be very welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Joan

Hi Tomàs,

This is a common problem/mistake when using sweep function with grasshopper.

As rhino works, the sections start to sweep along the rail curve from the nearest point (from section to rail).

In grasshopper, instead, the section sweep along the rail curve from the seam point of the rail. (in case of closed curve rail)

I use the parameters you already extracted in your definition to adjust the seams of the rails, and flipped one of the two.

Take a look.
