algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I've got a pretty funky surface that I need to rebuild in such a way that one could do the roof cheaply with a standing seam system. My problem is that I'm not even entirely sure of where to begin. I'm new to surface optimization and the like, but very comfortable in GH so I'm not afraid to dive into Kangaroo, Evolute or whatever...I just need to understand the workflow and then I'm confident that I could figure out the rest (although I've only got a day or so to do this).

So anyone willing to throw me a bone? Perhaps I'm just not understanding the logic of what I'm being asked to do, but should I begin by reworking the entire surface? Or should I simply just divide the surface into strips to begin with and then start developing those each individually.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
