algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey, if anyone knows whether it is at all possible to recreate the physics seen in the following animation using kangaroo, any help would be appreciated !

I am not so concerned with the extra droplets created, more the increase of mass in a water drop until the surface it is attached to can no longer hold its weight and it falls.

Here's a quick attempt.

Surface tension is just an emergent effect from a few simple interactions between many particles.

This definition uses short range repulsion and longer range attraction for a sort of simplified smoothed particle hydrodynamics. However, while the repulsion is somewhat optimised with the SphereCollide component, the attraction certainly isn't, so scaling this up to more particles would get pretty slow.

The possibility of integrating some more realistic CFD into Kangaroo has come up a few times, and I've always said I'd be happy to help if someone seriously wants to take this on, but I don't plan to try and tackle it by myself any time soon, as it is a big project.
