algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Yes, they are alright!
A complete collection would be pretty extensive since there are somewhat like 2^6 = 64 different combinations, but you are right we should think of some explanatory drawings.
Truss members can be defined in two ways:
1) modify beam component: set bending input to false
2) cross section joint component: set degrees of freedom Tx,Ty,Tz,Rx,Ry,Rz for each end of elements for a specific beam id (only available in pro version)
Thank you for the reply Robert.
How does solution number 1) effect on supports?
If I set the bending input to "false", does that mean I can not have "rigid" supports? The "bending - false" thing will effect all my members, and there for I could not have rigid supports at all?
the bending input affects all beams you treat with it, yes. but
A) you specify two sets of beams, one with bending and one without or
B) you make it a truss system and pin-support both chords
For solution A):
Only beams which will have supports on one of their ends will be have bending input to "true". All the rest ones (let's suppose I want my truss connections to be hinged and supports to be rigid) will have bending input to "false"?
I did not understand you about the solution B, sorry.
Hello, sorry you know how to achieve the articulated connection in truss ?. I am new to this and would like to know. Articulated connections and fixed or fixed and mobile supports. . Thank you :)
Hello Wilinton,
truss elements - e.g. beams with 'bending' set to false - have only translational degrees of freedom at their ends. It is therefore only possible (and meaningful) to set translational supports there: Tx, Ty or Tz.
For details regarding the 'Support'-component please see the manual at https://www.karamba3d.com/download/#manual.
Best,
Clemens
