algorithmic modeling for Rhino
you dont, you press space bar
Or Middle-Mouse-Button. Or Right-Mouse-Button if you're not over an object to modify the entire selection. Or Right-Mouse-Button if you are over an object and want to modify that object. Or hit Ctrl+Q.

I swear I've seen some tutorial videos with those buttons on the blue bar, I just don't remember where I've seen it but I know it exists. It's so much easier to select a component and just keep clicking the button on the bar to toggle the preview on and off.
Now: I have to aim carefully on top of the component icon and not on any inputs outputs to right click->look for preview button to toggle it->if I want to toggle it again I have to go back to step one.
With bar buttons: I can just select a component with a less carefully aimed click->click a button on the bar->if I want to toggle it again I just keep clicking the button. I can even spam clicks to make it blink.
So if there is no way to show preview/enabledisable button on the bar, can I turn this into a suggestion instead?
Thanks very much.
Edit: Oh I found the video where I saw it: http://www.rhinonest.com/video/rhinonest-within-grasshopper
it used to be that way, it is not anymore, personally i find space bar the quickest.
no careful aim needed, just select the component(s) hit space and click your toggle of choice on the radial menu.
Uh, I think I still prefer a spammable button on the bar.
Actually Ctrl+Q is pretty spammable as well. I think I need to start learning the keyboard shortcuts...
Thank you guys for the tips tho.
I was impartial at first until I got used to it, I dont think I would go back.
I'd like to make the toolbar and the popup radial menu customizable, but it requires creating some sort of command-script framework which is a lot of work and I'm working on Clusters now which is more important.

if you highlight what you want to preview (or not preview) by dragging your mouse and right click your mouse you can turn components off an on really easily.
