algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

Can the developers introduce a function to subdivide a curve by chord length?

I want to divide a curve such that when i join the points by straight line segments, I get equal length straight line segments.

Thanks.

Divide Distance?

David,
When we use this component, how do we know what distance to enter? What we actually want is to place N points on the curve such that the straight line distance between them are equal.

If we use the arc length of the curve, we can get an approximate distance to subdivide the curve by (if we wish to use the divide distance function) but it's not going to work if the curve changes slope.

So it seems like there needs to be a dedicated component which places points on a curve that makes the str line dist between points equal.

Thanks.

Sorry to resuscitate a really old thread, but I'm looking for the exact same thing Kermin Chok was back in 2009. Like Kermin, I want "to place N points on the curve such that the straight line distance between them are equal."

Any suggestions?

Thanks, David. I'll look into using Kangaroo and Galapagos... or just deal with the 0.04mm deviation I get using the divide curve component.
