Is there a generative pattern here?  It's hard to tell from the photo.

If the structure really needs to grow like a tree, having a growth logic, then I suggest to try the L-systems see http://morphocode.com/rabbit-l-systems/

the structure in the photo is made by hands! 

but i will try to do this in grasshopper, and i looking for something like growth logic!

i only have some scripts for processing and rhino-script
