This version (more logically?) couples (multiples) "shape" amplitude with polygon radius instead of number of segments:

Added "TWIST" control (in degrees, not radians) to reduce twist:

Thanks for addressing this topic, Noam. David and Joseph's responding work has been extremely helpful for me in developing a parametric tree trunk form.
