algorithmic modeling for Rhino
If you are using 0.099, the spring component is called SpringsFromLine and has a picture of a coil spring as an icon.
In 2.0 onwards, this is replaced by the Length goal, which is a linearly elastic 1D finite element following Hooke's law.

Please, look if I did the correct way...a comparation with sprigs force and length with the same curve...One is blue and the other is read (negative). I use the old Kangaroo with the new.
Thanx
Hi Art Agent,
Yes - everything looks good here, nice comparison.
By the way - the reason for the slight difference between the results is due to the anchors in Kangaroo2 being treated as goals with a default weighting of 1000. If you do want to fix the anchors absolutely, you can set their weights to 1e+99
Looks more complex than I would imagine. How would I utilize this with a coil spring?
I'm not sure how your file functions. Can we derive something simple with a coil spring?
I'm using version 2.02.
I do see: "length(line)", and "plastic length". I'm still learning the terminology quite a bit. I'm assuming these are kangaroo components under the goals section?
I will play around with these to see if I can make sense of it.
Thank you Daniel. I'm thrilled to begin learning these new tools/plugins.
Erik
I find one tutorial that is good for you to understand Spring Force...
It is only point, lines and data...

I´ll do a Foucault Pendulum...and I was studied these ...spring + gravity
:)
I´m in a cool workshop in Rio and everybody is using Kangaroo and Grasshopper
Hey! Cool video! Thanks! I'm going to be studying it very closely. Thank you Art Agent :)
Hello, I've studied that video very much. I'm very grateful for it. I've been able to move forward with a functional file, and would like to share my current permutation, here.
Enjoy!
Hi Erik
Cool you get it
:)
See these pendulum only with 2 points...it is very simple
one is fixed the other you move it and it is working
haha, it took me a few minutes, but I finally got the pendulum to swing! :)
it's pretty cool!
Lander,
Take a look in these in this spring´s jump of Kangaroo over some curves and points...
Welcome to
Grasshopper
