Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

I'm a new user of Grasshopper and I have used Rhino for many years before.

I have simple question: Is there any Splitting Icon/function in Grasshopper? Or is there any way to cut surfaces or curves by other geometrical objects? Because I find in Grasshopper nearly all the same Rhino's construction functions exept the spliting tools...

Thank you for answers!

Hi Matthieu,

it depends what do you want to split
try with the intersection tools and after words redoing the surfaces with the resulting lines
if it is a curve you can use the shutter componnent

do you have an example of what you want to do ?

Salut Svet!

How do you expect others to help you or learn from this example if the English is not necessary? (I'm not being snooty just sensible.)

On your facade problem have you looked into isoTrim and boolean operations to create the windows in your surface?
He figured out he knows Svetlin personally (they're both french).

I got that bit....let me guess you're going to start writing freaky-deeky-dutch at me in a minute :-P time of month again!
Nebolo by to ešte ovela horšie keby som začal po slovensky? Aspon holančina este ma nieco spoločne z angličinu.

Or maybe I'll start writing all my responses in assembly...

Online translators sure are miracle machines, unfortunately they don't do too well with the kind of jargon required for tech support.

ok ok ok... Europe is not made yet!!!
Danny, Dutch or Flamish???
Hi danny and others!

I understand that English is useful for every body, but the guy who first reply to me is an ex-collegue from France. (And you have to know that UK steel is our best enemy... and english steel unatural for any french... lol).
Sorry every body...

Anyway, I said (in French) that I wanted to create a serie of aligned glass surfaces on an architectural project. The idea is to let spaces between each glass surface.
To create these spaces I first wanted to create a large surface and then spliting it. But I guess there is no any spliting tool in Grasshopper as in Rhino...

So, I just tested the IsoTrim operation. I didn't know this function and it works good! Thanks.

Hi Matthieu,

sorry it got so far that I couldn't even reply on your other post. David's the Dutch guy living in Slovakia, I'm the ex Saudi resident (Aramco Brat 76-87) living in the Isle of Man.
Salut Matthieu,

so in general way you can use the intersection tools, but it's always quite tricky depending on what exactly you want and how your data is structured in grasshopper (trees, types of objects and etc....)
if you need some advice on a precise subject just post the file or send me an email

sinon tout baigne
a bientot Mat
