algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

I have so far managed to script a general spiral but cannot get it to get smaller as it gets higher.

I am trying to achieve a spiral that wraps around a sphere or other shape if possible.

Attached is the script for my generlal spiral but i cant think where along the route or what i would add in to achieve this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

George,

You can do this by interpolated a curve along UV Points. You can optionally remap the V distribution with any methods you like.

Ivor,

I am wanting to apply this process to a number of points. Rather than copying the entire script and applying a single point one at a time, is there a way to say do this whole process to all points individually?

Thanks a lot for your help!!

George

Hi Ivor, Is there a way of doing this with text. I want to have test running around the side of a curved cup. It would be about a paragraph of text. Hope it can be done.

Ian

Thats exactly what i was after! Thanks a lot!

Thank you so much for this... I have a similar issue and came up with a couple of different solutions... The first messy large one was making a spiral and from a sweep and intersecting it with the brep.

The next was a surface remapping and instead of repeating the U data I kept resizing it with hoopsnake.

Ivor's solution is much better...

I am now going to try and re-apply it to braid making over variable diameter pipes.

Excellent I now have a biaxial weave which can be plotted to different densities over a varying diameter pipe....

Going to be very handy thanks
