Sorting midpoints by y-value and x-value

Hello,

I have a problem sorting midpoints first by y-values and then by x-values (see image) in python language. Sorting by y-value works, however subsequently it doesn't sort at x-value. Could this be depending on the draw direction of the line (from left to right or from right to left). Does somebody has a solution?
