Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I would like to do an offset of a line that follows the motion of 2 parallel curves. Maybe the addition of a distance between points that define the little segment and the X points of the new segment (in green) works ... but I don't know how to do it. Hope that someone could help me.

Is it that you're struggling to make that line go around the corners?

Chris

YES!! A simple offset of the line is only possible in certain cases :-)

Thia probably still isn't quite what you want.  What is it that you actually wish to do by having this moving line at your disposal?

This is what I do with your approach. But it's less precise (see at corner) :-(

In short, this is what I would like to do:

- Define a segment [1] that flows between 2 lines

- Define a 2nd segment [2]. For this segment I would like to be able to define the distance between the segment [1] ... but REAL measure (NO reparameterize)

- These segments can flows along 2 lines (with a distance that I define)

- At the end, trim it (should be an opening)

hmm, this is interesting, seems simple enough but I can't figure out how to offset the point on the curve a specified distance.   i'm not as gifted as others in grasshopper though.  ;-)

Seems to be easy, but I don't know where to start!! :-(

Hope that someone could help me!! ;-)

i think i might have gotten closer, dunno how to handle the trimming, have to think about that.

try this.

It doesn't seem to work :-( Maybe the only way is to define a distance between sliding points and new points.

hmm, what part didn't work?

do you move the 2nd line with "000-100" slider??
