There are algorithms known for solving N equations with N unknowns, but it depends on what your equations looks like.

When i was in college,
for my homeworks, i was using a software named ENGINEERING EQUATION SOLVER.

I was writing the all lineer and non lineer equations.
i was providing known parameters (if any)

and the software was giving me the set of solution(s) OR error / in case n equation and (n+1) unknown.

I'm not sure if I follow.

Do you want to rearrange the equation and there for find the square root of 40

Or do you want to set up a much more complicated equation and have Grasshopper Solve rthe answer using Galapagos.

thank you! it seems it's the second option. I have a quite complicated equation, with one unknown. I would like grasshopper to find the solution of this equation. Is Galapagos capable of doing this?

Galapagos comes with Grasshopper.

You just have to set up the fitness value to be 40 and hit start solver on the solvers tab.

Called me if I'm wrong but if there is only one solution to the equation then would be of no galapagos apart for the understanding.
A simple with compoment f (x) should be sufficient.
