smart materials_ grasshopper

Hello,
I'm studying a membrane able to adapt to environmental conditions: to change color with temperature, weather / creation of different patterns (drawings) on the membrane according to the incidence of the solar rays.
This membrane will be composed from a particular material, ‘smart material’ like Photochromic and Thermochromic.
The form of the membrane therefore, it is born following the change of certain parameters of the context.
I wondered if Grasshopper or possible others plug-in could help me to elaborate a similar concept.
Or if somebody know some news to advise me :
“Interaction between software as rhino-grasshopper with the concept of smart materials like photocromic, thermocromic"

Hi Sabrina

if your purpose is to visualize the transitions that you would have with Grasshopper, you are right, you can use this plug-in to create the geometry and the behavior that you would see with that membrane.

Also, if you want to define the shape of this membrane, you might use Grasshopper for that (depending on how you want to design the membrane, you could use SmartForm, GeometryGym or Kangaroo to form-find a tension surface, LunchBox, Mesh+, Sterling, PanelingTools or Weaverbird to tessellate it in several patterns, or even just do all of these operations in Grasshopper itself.

Grasshopper, being a visual programming language, could be used to program most of these interactions.

I was interested in Grasshopper, and i’m taking knowledges of the program in autodidactic way through tutorial! So i haven’t a lot of experience'..

Anyway, I have to tessellate this membrane with a tessellation that is aperiodic
( Penrose tiling).
I’ll try to install and use plugin you have advised me,

Yestarday, I’ve tried to install Kangaroo but it doesn’t work:
When I take a kangaroo component, the window ‘unrecognized object’ appears and
I discoverd that there are just few component
(I cannot find the physics component, SpringsFromLine, etc ).
