Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Guys,

I am doing a set out drawing for a tower facade.
The facade is built from a toroid layout meaning it has constant
curvature in 2 directions.
I have generated 12 paths for the column layout and 12 sections for the columns. These all come from the same data set.
I cannot get the 12 sections to sweep along the 12 rails. My sweep box is black indicating no error, but my out put has zero resultant Breps.

Is it possible to do this procedure? It seems correct to me.
I have attached a simplified version of the procedure I want to achieve.

Thanks,

Luke

hmm
I had no luck either. Bug in 6.0059?

I tried with a single line and circle and it worked. Seems to have something to do with multiples.

Pipe worked fine, unless you need to change the radius of the column throughout.
i find the sweep component very hit & miss at the minute. this is even when testing with extremely rudimentary geometry(to check i'm not going mad). i.e. referenced rhino rectangle will sweep along a referenced curve but not a straight line

nothing to do with data structures. just performing a little oddly.
Thanks Guys,

Yeah, it seems like it should be straight forward. This might be where the parametric set out finishes and the standard modeling begins. Darnit, hate getting caught at a bottleneck. Im sure this will improve in future releases.
I might be a bit late for this particular project, but I've been looking at integrating the Struct Draw Rhino toolset into Grasshopper and this is a great example of where this functionality can be really powerful. The current tool allows control of orientation by a 3dpoint and a rotation angle (common in structural modelling programs. There's a screen capture demonstration of this for 2012 stadium on my blog, http://geometrygym.blogspot.com
