algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi GH Community,
Successfully built this definition last night--essentially am trying to replicate how a thermography sensor works (heat gun)--but believe that there should be a way to simplify the definition and/or more effectively sort the information that I have.
I've attached both Rhino file and Definition and the definition labels the train of thought, but to summarize, a surface reacts to the proximity of a point along a line by interpreting distance between point and surface as a color (red = near = hot, blue = far = cold). I am able to generate the distance information and successfully sort the information, but I have to repeat the part of the definition block that assigns color based upon how many colors that I'd like to use.
Any thoughts on simplification would be much appreciated. Additionally, is there a way for the color gradient to incorporate more than two colors?
Thanks.

Right-click on [Gradient] and you will see many preset gradient options with multiple colors, but you can create any custom gradient you want by double-clicking and specifying/selecting color values and factors.
To delete a specified color, simply slide the white dot off of the gradient range (to the left or right).
I haven't looked at your file, but what type of geometry are you trying to add color to? A polysurface or a mesh?
Thanks Taz, re: the gradient...got multiple colors going now.
The color is ultimately added to mesh entities, each of which is part of the subdivided surface (the original geometry).
