Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

This is most likely pointed to our illustrious leader David,

I totally get the grasshopper interface and consider myself a somewhat advanced user. However, i will never understand coding/scripting.

That being said i understand the principles of looping and generation based recursion.

It seems like there could be a component called "Generation based Recursion". The component would allow you to set the number of generation (integer) as well as feed in a output geometry, input geometry and the bit of grasshopper code to "copy". The final output would be a collection in a list of all the generations of the base script.

Attached is a simple "recursive" definition i made as an example. It simply creates line segments whose creation is dependent on the line segment created in the previous generation. there are TONS of times ive needed this and just had to copy and connect TONS of generations together.  A slider attached to the generations and a simple out put would save so much labor of copying and connecting and headach.Any ideas?

Hi Rob,

recursion and looping constructs are high on the list of important stuff to do. Clusters are an important part in this process so I want to get those working flawlessly first.

This is a pretty big job, so I don't dare put a date on this.

Cool, so im not sure what clusters are, i know that the version i learned on didn't have them. Any links that explain how to use them?
