Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

does anyone have a simple definition for finding the minimum bounding box for a 2d curve?

I tried one that was on here using Galapagos for 3d objects, but I'm having some trouble getting it to work on 2d.  Plus I'm not that up on Galapagos.

Thanks in advance!

nobody?  pretty please?

Missed this one. I would approach it like this:

Point the Genome at a radian angle to rotate the bounding box's plane and then the fitness at the area, fitness target set to minimum.

thank you for the reply.

nice!  now I have something tangible, and easy to get me into Galapagos!

i appreciate it!

Here's another approach without using Galapagos:

A lot quicker than Galapagos, but you take the fun out of watching it jump all over the screen :)

thanks Andrew.  I'll give that a go also, even though I was enjoying watching Galapagos do it's thing.

It'll be good to have both approaches for edumacating myself.

One thing about using Galapagos, how do I bake the resulting Bbox?  I tried all the obvious things, but I must be overlooking something.

Thanks again.

The bounding box is still the bounding box, Galapagos is only changing the Slider to get the desired results. If it's not baking from the right click context menu then try from the toolbar.

Very nice solutions!

Does Galapagos need manual input to run it each time or will it rerun automatically as the input changes?

Will it make the process computationally more efficient in this example, compared to the pure GH solution? Since it maybe searches more intelligently?
