Simple Mesh Machine Failing

Hi I've been trying to get better at remeshing, is there something dumb that I'm doing here? 

Not really sure why I need fixed vertices if I have a fixed border. Or what to do if my border is a continuous curve--do I make arbitrary points along the curve? Or is it just not possible? Should I make a faceted line instead of a curve? (Noticing most of Daniel Piker's examples have polygonal shapes instead of curves.

Thanks for any guidance you can share!

If you want something more robust, you can export mesh object (remesh with Rhino Mesh from Nurbs object) to Meshmixer. There are some example of Meshmixer user on this forum from  Nik Willmore  Kim Hauer ...

If you want menu to remesh select the mesh (CTRL +A)

Meshmachine(another one)is still of some use.
