Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

This is the script of Daniel Abalde's Peacock tapered offset post, here:

Hello Sean,

The ressource is here. The first idea came from Igor

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/simple-growth-without-rec...

After that look at the script above "Shortest_Walk_Tapered_3D_pipes.gh"

First you have to generate a volume where your tree is. I didn't put it in the script. But it is just a revolution.

Populate this volume with points. As populate populate the volume, you have to choose if inside or outside.

Select a point for your trunk and make paths (end to trunk)

Create some paths for the leaves using proximity 3D

Use Shortest Walk, don't whorry of the error, its works with.

After that I bake may lines in order to make some improvement, a vertical trunk ...

I use my script to calculate branch radius ...

Thank you Laurent - this is very helpful! Impressive stuff.

Glad to drag you in particular into full 3D! I hadn't had the energy yet to consolidate what I was looking at with your own thread on branching that you linked above.

I didn't like the disorder of just filling space with random points to branch between, so I added Lloyd's algorithm cycles to afford a centroidal Voronoi relaxation of the distribution of them:

To visualize these deep structures is a challenge in Rhino. The ZBrush standard MatCap red wax is great but the actual Movie command output was all washed on in Windows 7 and I had to adjust the contrast back up using Xilisoft Video Converter, but it still lost its screen tricks subtlety in which light frost and areas of polish are added along with hints of polygon face edges and distinct black lines added along the rear edge of curved surfaces to add sharpness and better define overlap.

Here is Keyshot using its red velvet material that similarly highlights sculptural form well, though this takes an hour or two to render:

Instead of added black lines as surfaces round away from view, the velvet catches bright light to distinguish front item edges from the back bulk structure, here being a three minute render which is enough to rid noise.

The ZBrush bad movie contrast was just a recent bug that nixed Quicktime compression output options in favor of silly H.264 junk, so now I have a copy of ZBrush 4r5 to specifically do turntable movies, while still using contemporary 4r7 for modeling use.

hi nik, I lost command Mesh Pipe, which tools contain this command?

Let's check the new database of Grasshopper commands to see if it's native, since it merely appears in my normal Mesh tab under Primitive.

http://www.grasshopperhelp.tk/

And indeed Mesh Pipe isn't native.

I see it here though, not an official plug-in with a name, so Grasshopper won't alert about it?

Hello Nik. I am Brazilian architect and a fan of his work.

I am studying the algorithm of Lloyds. I'm having a problem because they do not know what this imput that meeting ever in .ghs. Even in your posts.

Follow the attached image.

Do you know what's the name of this plugin?!

I hope very much your help
PS: sorry my bad english

Hi, I have just opened the file, why the command are red or orange? Is there somewhere mistake in script?

Moderator you can not download THANKS

Shortest walk control point curves bulked up by Cocoon plug-in marching cubes from chosen core point to each mesh vertex of the lame Stanford bunny, through a uniform but surface mesh adaptive tetrahedral mesh made via Grasshopper Python invocation of the classic Tetgen 3D mesh program:

Tetgen binary for Windows: https://github.com/JuliaGeometry/tetgen.dependency

The Python script is hard wired to the Tetgen binary and a saved STL file of the bunny mesh. The Tetgen parameter of minimum tetrahedron volume determines how crude the inner volume is versus intricate since its set to retain the curvature adaptive surface mesh as part of the tetrahedral mesh.
