algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

Is there a way to find the shortest distance between any two curves ?

Cheers,

Call me a sadist !

(This example is especially made to annoy Luis and Jacek, I dont know how ClosestPoints behaves cause its in rhino5 only ?)

Sadist! :-)

Yes and no, ClosestPoints is new in last week's RhinoCommon. So it's already available in Rhino 5 and will be available in Rhino 4 for scripting in Grasshopper with the next version of Gh.

Good news! Thank you!

No it won't. ClosestPoints is Rhino5 only, it will not appear in Grasshopper until we switch to Rhino5 or unless I make a special Rhino5 only version.

Hi,

Is there a way to do it for circles packet on a sfeer?

I tried the way Jacek Jaskolski but even with my i7 it keeps crashing.

Reviving an old topic, I was wondering if there could be an extension of this method to use 2 lines instead of curves, projecting the closest points to infinite.

I've been trying to get the math of it to no avail...

This is a geometric approach I did:

cheers!

The Line|Line Intersection component returns the closest pair of points on a pair of (infinite) lines.

Am I dumb...

Thanks!
