If you type any number into the Create utility (Double click on the canvas or hit F4) then you will get a simple slider.

Or you can type the long form of Slider=3.141 to get it.

Or you can type 1<2.5<15 to set the min value, the value and the max value.

O.K. Thought there is something like "S" for slider, like in Photoshop "B" for brush, because you need it every 3 seconds :) But probably it wouln`t be clear if I mean rhino or GH if I use a shortcut like just "S". Anyway thanks a lot!

Hi El,

the problem with a non-standard shortcut such as "S" is that it would interfere with the Rhino command line. It is extremely irritating when you start typing a Rhino command, only to realise halfway through that Grasshopper was the active window. Now Grasshopper delegates all keypresses directly to Rhino.

It would be possible to define control-key shortcuts to individual objects. Say Ctrl+L = slider and Ctrl+P = panel. I don't like this however as it might interfere with the menu shortcuts.

There are other solutions to quick instantiation like this and I'll probably get around to experimenting with a few of them relatively soon. Until then, it's F4+number+Enter or drag from the toolbar or the Markov widget.

New release of Firefly contains IsKeyPressed component, but as you write here - when you press any key, it is received by rhino (and firefly component). Is there any option to disable key press passing ?
