Hi everybody
I am a design student in Paris. For my project I have to work with Grasshopper but I don't know very well this software. I often have problems I can't solve.
My goal is to have a base surface that looks like a dome, a lens, that points would then deform while maintaining a certain fluidity (a bit like a jellyfish). Then this surface is applied a pattern (consisting of circles).
The radius of these circles varies with the strain applied to the surface. For example, an aera of the surface where there is a large deformation, the radius of the circles will be greater than in areas where there is little distortion. I don't know if I am clear in my explanations but the little program that I have done should help you understand what I mean.
So for now I see several problems:
- First to get the basic shape. Indeed in my program I only managed to make a rectangle. For the dome I like idea of cutting a sphere into three parts and keep the bottom, however I can't connect to the component "surface from point". Also available points is much less regular than that of the rectangle.
- For the pattern, I want the circles become holes in the surface (that is why I have extruded) but I can't useto use the tools "intersect". It's more complicated than in rhino I find. I get the opposite of what I want when I use bake.
- Finally, (I have not tried to do), I wonder if this surface is facetised (consisting only of flat surfaces).
I hope not to bother you with questions like this, I new... but if someone could help me, even on a small detail of what I explained, I would be very grateful.
thank you,
Ines
PS : Sorry for my english...
