algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi.
Creating Cross section offsets to a column, seems to force fixed supports to a column element. Even though the support is simple. Taking away the offset creates the wanted pinned support again. Is there anyway to get around this to use correct element offsets, but still with the wanted boundary conditions?
Thanks Rasmus

Hi Rasmus,
eccentricities are modeled as rigid connections between the centroid of a cross section and the corresponding beams end-points. The support conditions apply to the points on the beam axis.
The reason why one uses eccentricities is normally to get the moments at the end-points due to normal forces. Why do you want to use them without getting their mechanical effect?
Best,
Clemens
