Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am interesting in learning how can we model a seamless Y-junction as shown in the attached image.

I am also curious to know how is the form generated.

Deeply appreciate your time and efforts in helping me.

Thanks.

Surely that contains lots of seams.

I am sorry but i couldn't understand your reply... Could you please elaborate on it..?

You said "seamless" but the elaborate building in your attached image "Surely [] contains lots of seams".  From the thread title, I thought you meant something like this - which, by the way, also has seams:

Hi Joseph.. thanks for your quick reply.

I am looking for a way on how can we blend the junction edges at their junction..?

Way too vague, especially when you have posted no code.  See #7:

7. This is not a 'do my work for me' group
Many of us like to help, but it's good to see effort on our part being matched by effort on your part. Questions in the form of 'I need to do X but cannot be bothered to try and learn the software' will (and should) go unanswered.

7b. Similarly, questions in the form of 'How do I quickly recreate this facade that took a team of skilled professionals four months to figure out?' have a very low success rate.

Please dont judge me wrong. I dont intend to get my work done through this forum.

I thought that I would get guidance on how i can do it. Even a suggestion on the methodology can help.

I don't expect a ready-made script as i understand the efforts and thinking process that goes in making one.

I have attached a short script to illustrate my problem. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks

GH Script is attached here...

Hi David,

Could you please suggest me the methodology or concept behind creating this geometry.

Is there a different component instead of "Boolean Union" that i need to use?

Thanks!

For this type of shape you could use
mesh in Rhino and then apply Catmull&Clark on Grasshopper with Weavebird plugin
Subd in rhino WIP
TSPLINES
If you want just junction I have done a component named YANG

Thanks Laurent... Deeply appreciate your advice and guidance.

Plan A: Try these 2 (17: solely components, 23: some code is used) as a brief intro into "liquid" line graph solidification via meshes (I wouldn't recommend that approach at all: only for artists, students and people who have nothing to do with AEC). Required ExoW, WB and Topologizer.

Plan B: The dead by now TSplines (AutoDesk after acquiring the company pulled the plug for reasons not clear to me).

Plan C: Treating each node separately and attempting to do it via nurbs
