Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey Guys...

once again i need your help. Do you know a way to screencast Kangaroo calculations? I heard about a plugin which creates screenshots for every step Kangaroo does. So when Kangaroo needs a lot of time to find the almost perfect solution, i don't want the video to be that long.

Thanks!

Hi Vinzenz,

You can connect a number slider to the 'On' input of Kangaroo, right click it and choose 'animate'.

This generates a series of images, which you can assemble into a video using most video editing software. A simple free one for this is VirtualDub.

Alternatively you can use screen capture software and then edit/speed up. I use Camtasia for this (not free, but there is a trial version).

I've been using Atomi Active Presenter lately. Takes some getting used to but it's pretty good, not to mention they do have a free version.

If you're running windows 10, then you can use the inbuilt app. Press win key + G to open the screen cap menu. If it won't appear then take a look at this solution: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/7ed48b7a-438b-67...

I also use an old app called Microsoft Expression Encoder which comes with Expression Encoder Screen Capture. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18974

Once you record something with the Screen Capture, you have to convert it with the encoder... its can be a small pain, but generally once set up its one click with some saved preset.

Both of those screen cap apps are completely free, don't put watermarks, record in full hd, no time limits and are quite well optimized on top of that.

Thanks! helped me a lot!
